The water used in Ixtapa appears inconsequential next to that used by the 40,000 or so squatters in Zihuatanejo; water that often is seen running down the roads from all the leaks in the jerry-rigged hoses criss-crossing the asentamientos irregulares.

Speaking of water, rumor has it that Cerro del Vigía has problems because they still haven't been able to locate water after digging several very deep wells. Part of their approval for their development is based upon them providing their own water source. They're also in trouble because their contractors tried to install overhead electric lines when their permits call for underground, so after knocking down a few palm trees in the Huerta at La Ropa the contractor was ordered to halt work (for the second time). No water and no electricity equals no development (let's hope).
